Naked wedding cakes are the newest and hottest trend in the wedding cake industry and we can see why. The cakes have exposed sponge and that is what gives them the rustic feel, and your guests can take home their own piece in your cute cake slice boxes.

The lack of icing around the cakes doesn’t take away any décor possibilities as these cakes are adorned beautifully with a mixture of materials which have them looking so delicious. If you can't live without icing, don't worry - we have some gorgeous butter cream wedding cakes for you too.

“Naked cakes are all about simplicity - the idea is to look rustic, but look delicious. Using different coloured sponge, such as carrot, chocolate and vanilla can actually look nicer in some ways, as it will add to the rustic feel.
"We certainly find that a naked cake will be eaten by more guests than a cake covered in sweet icing.”
This gorgeous five tier cake from Aphrodite Cakes would be perfect for any rustic wedding. The combination of darker and lighter tiers complements the fruit décor perfectly and the pretty pale yellow flowers are the perfect addition.
We love this buttercream cake by The Pretty Cake Company. The smudge icing effect is so chic and goes perfectly with the floral adorning. The colours mean that it would fit with so many different gorgeous colour schemes.
This naked wedding cake by Cakes by Katie is simple yet stunning. The clean cut edges and four sleek tiers are an absolute winner in our books. The flowers and wooden plate are the perfect way to finish off this yummy look.
Yellow flowers are an amazing shade to enhance the design of a naked wedding cake and this Fancie Buns Cakery cake just proves it. Small doses of icing sugar are always a great finishing touch to a cake of this style and we just love it.
This cake, photographed at The Headland Hotel makes for such a pretty picture. Having a naked wedding cake on a nicely made cake stand adds to the drama and the simplicity of this design is what we love the most. Pastel colours are so pretty in spring and summer, which is when we would recommend having a cake as beautiful as this!
Sprinkles and Swirls have created a real masterpiece with this winter wedding cake. Darker tiers and deep red fruits are always a winner with seasonal cakes and the white icing really shows the contrast of colours.
This sultry red velvet cake is the perfect autumnal sweet treat for your guests if you are getting married at that time of year and will go so well with our autumn wedding ideas. Red velvet is one of the really fun wedding cake flavours to play with when it comes to wedding cakes and the vibrant colour is so stunning to look at, especially in a naked wedding cake. Vintage Rose Cupcakes have really made this fit for purpose.
This naked cake is a really great example of how a single tier wedding cake can still compete and be just as beautiful as the big designs. We love this cake because it’s incorporated different types of fruits to the ones we usually see on naked wedding cakes and the colours go so well with the darker shade of sponge.
These delightful little cakes are a cute alternative wedding cake idea if you don’t want just one big cake for your guests. The great thing about these is that they can be so clean cut and we love the cute fruit topping to finish off the pretty look. You could always opt for smaller cakes to accompany a bigger cake and really give your guests something to feast their eyes on.
We are delighted to introduce you to another gorgeous single tier cake, but this time it is a dreamy chocolate wedding cake. The piping on the joining of each layer is perfectly done and the big succulent strawberries and berries which top the cake are the perfect vibrant colour to warm up this chocolaty design.
This cake photographed at Trevanna looks so pretty and has such a romantic feel to it. The quirky un-level tiers add to its character and the doses of icing sugar look super pretty with the colour scheme. Wooden planks are such a nice addition to the naked wedding cake look and are very on-trend.
