People fall into two different camps with respect to Valentine's Day:
they either hate it or love it. This romance based day can cause stress
because expectations can be high and disappointment might be around the
corner. Food is often the centerpiece of the evening because couples
can bond and create memories over a lovely meal. The exclamation point
of this romantic moment is of course dessert. Holidays can be stressful
for anyone especially if you are trying to impress a new love or even an
established love. Valentine's Day is one of those holidays when high
expectations often sabotage good intentions and genuine romance. If you
are planning a romantic dinner with a sweetheart try to simplify your
menu so more time is spent relaxing and holding hands. Do not try
anything elaborate unless you are a seasoned professional and let your
dessert be simple and easy to feed to one another!
Valentine's Day dessert should be rich, decadent and luxurious. It does not have to be chocolate but this ingredient
is often the first choice. Fresh berries, whipped cream and cheesecakes
also make the list of Valentine's Day desserts. Cakes and pretty
cupcakes are easy impressive desserts when you want to make a great
impression, especially small cakes that look intimate and can be
decorated with flair and with extra care. Try different types of
decorations to get exactly the right look for the desired ambiance.
Cupcakes
or mini cakes are a great choice for a romantic Valentine's Day because
they are not too big and filling which can encourage crashing on the
couch to sleep off the meal. They can also be decorated easily using
traditional themes of the day with minimal fuss
and expense. You can even make a pretty cake ball bouquet tied in a
flashy red ribbon to serve as a centerpiece to the table and dessert.
There are no rights or wrongs on Valentine's Day when it comes to a cake or cupcake. Anything created with love is perfect.
For Valentine's day you can make heart shaped cookies, chocolate cupcakes adorned with fondant lips or hearts
and cut out Rice Krispie treats festooned with sprinkles, chocolate and
dragees. Children can easily help you create lovely Valentine’s Day
treats for your family or their class party. There is something
wonderful watching small hands use a piping bag to draw "I love you" on
cookies and even the catastrophic pile of sugar, decorating accents and
scraps of fondant are not a chore to clean up. So if the weather is
awful around this holiday, crack open your favorite cookbook, dust off
your cake decorating tools and have some messy fun instead of
bellyaching about the cold and snow.
