Ingredients
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How to make it 60 minutes
1.In a heavy saucepan, combine first seven ingredients. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Cool. Place in a mixing bowl.[post_ads_2]
2. Dissolve baking soda in hot water; add to mixing bowl. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to batter.
3. Pour into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes or until cake tests done. Serve with Hard Sauce if desired.
