Baked in a tube pan or in 4 layers, this
makes a nice high cake, easily sliced. To make a 4-layer cake, divide
the batter between 2 cake pans. Cut each finished cake horizontally to
make 4 layers.

- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 eggs, well-beaten
- 1 cup soured milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup boiling water
Directions

Cook: 48 Minutes
- Sift flour once; add baking soda, cocoa, and salt. Sift together 3 times. Cream butter; add sugar. Cream until light. Add eggs and beat. Add flour and sour milk alternately. Add vanilla and boiling water and beat. Bake in greased 10" tube pan at 375°F for about 45 minutes. Frost as desired.
